Numbers are important. No one understands that better than this month’s Meet the Team guest. Joining the blog for June is Barbara Wolinski, our Vice President & CFO. She’s been with MRW Systems since its founding and continues to help grow and nurture the business.
Barbara started her career building actuarial databases and doing financial analysis in the insurance industry. But when her husband, Michael Wolinski, got the idea for MRW Systems, she knew her skills could help grow the idea into a business.
Ready to learn more about Barbara? Here is her Q&A:
What is your role at MRW Systems?
I am the Chief Financial Officer. I take care of all the accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, procurement, and HR.
What is your proudest moment at MRW Systems?
Nothing makes me prouder than to see our clients grow and be successful…it’s even sweeter when they tell us they couldn’t have done it without us. Yay! It’s the same for employees—it’s great to see them grow and take on new challenges.
What does a typical day look like to you?
Mostly I keep score…I make sure we are hitting our goals, and everyone has what they need to be successful.
Before working at MRW Systems, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I was a candy striper at Good Samaritan Hospital for a summer. Very cute uniform.
What do you do in your spare time?
When I am not on an adventure with the CEO, I love to read and garden.
What is one tech thing you can’t live without?
I love my iPad mini. It’s just the right size for reading on the Kindle App.
What fictional character do you relate to the most and why?
Bilbo Baggins because he is a reluctant hero as he would say “Sorry! I don’t want any adventures, thank you.” But we all know he goes anyway.
If you had to pick, what superpower would you want and why?
I would love to be a healer and spare people their pain.
What is your favorite and least favorite foods?
I love pasta especially with my homemade sauce, but I do not like Feta cheese…no way…it’s smelly.
Lastly, what are three things still left on your bucket list?
I would love to have a beach house, return to Scotland and see the Northern Lights.
